Off to Tbilisi

This was a killer travel day. No photos here but a few observations.

We left the riad in Marrakesh at 7 AM. The airport was very difficult to navigate with confusing signs and unhelpful staff. The security personnel were very authoritative and didn't help much either.

In Casablanca we waited 90 minutes to check in for our Turkish Air flight. The employees at the counter looked at us as we looked at them waiting for something but none of us knew what.

While we waited Jon helped a Muslim family get a group photo. I got a lesson in how to tie a headscarf from the lady in front of us in line. Her daughter translated for me and now I know how to properly tie a scarf around my head.

Moroccan currency is not widely exchanged. So, you are not allowed to take it out of the country. However, you can only exchange 2,000 dkr of their currency, not 2,000 at a time or 2,000 per passport but 2,000 per family. The remainder was confiscated. We figure we lost $16. Not the end of the world.

The boarding process was a cattle call. No lines, no organization, just everyone pushing forward all at once. Thank goodness we were in Business Class on the plane.

Our next stop was Istanbul where we got on a plane to Tbilisi the capital of the Republic of Georgia. We arrived in Tbilisi at 3:30 AM and were met by Frank's driver Gia. He brought Donna and I each a dozen long stemmed white roses.

Here I am with Gia in Frank's condo in Tbilisi. We hit the sack at 4:30 AM and awoke at 9:30 AM to the wonderful smells of Frank's breakfast.
